This blog is created for easier references regarding LIE syllabus texts. These notes are made and compiled by myself when I sat for my examination in 2012/13. Notes that are found in various sites, links are provided under the section Bibliography {at the end of each posts}.  All notes that can be found on the internet are credited while other notes and essays are written by myself. 

Please do not plagiarize my posts. Your respect and love for this blog are very much appreciated.  



For foreigner viewers, 

STPM stands for Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia which is sat by students of age 18/19 in all Malaysian government school that provides higher secondary studies. 920 is the code for Literature in English syllabus in STPM examination.     Hi, Thanks for the great blog !
    Not many schools offer LIE as a subject, would it be possible to take LIE as a Private individual candidate (Calon Persendirian Individu) ?

      You're welcome. Yes, it it possible to take LIE as a private individual even though your school does not offer you the subject

    Thanks Jessy, I have more questions for you, I am totally an art person, my Math & Science are total disaster :)
    1. Do you mind sharing your STPM subjects combination with me ?
    2. I am planning for PA, LIE, ICT, Sejarah, what is your comment on such combination, will it be an disadvantages when I apply for IPTA later ?
    3. Did you take any tuition for LIE or 100% on your own? Do you know any teacher that can teach LIE in Penang ?
    4. Do you use any other reference books for LIE and where you get it ?

      Hi Alena, we don't use book references aside from the original texts that's in our syllabus cause everything can be found online. You will have some difficulties in finding materials regarding local works of literature on the internet though.

      I'm not sure of the availability in Malaysia bookstores, I suggest you try looking for in in your state library

    Hello Jessy! I'm really interested in taking LIE as an extra subject in STPM but I didn't take it during form 4 & 5 as I do not know there was an extra subject for it. So if I'm taking it for STPM is it too late?

      Hi :)

      LIE is different from other boring STPM subjects and if you're interested in poetry, classic novels and plays, its a definite go for you! It won't be difficult if you're worried that it will be for someone without LIT background. As long as the interest and passion, you'll do well in anything

      But what if my school doesn't offer the subject and no one in the area teaches it? I'm worried if I do take it as an extra and I don't do very well in it my grades will drop. I have no experience in taking exams regarding this subject at all.

    My school does not offer English Literature. I plan to take 5 standard subjects offered in school, and register as private student for English Literature subject - simultaneously. Is this possible, and how to go about?

    Hi Jessy. May I ask which school do you attend for stpm ? Do you learn LIE by yourself or teach by teacher ? I am Malay Communivative Literature Student. I'm planning to take LIE as extra subject. But I'm doubting my potential to do so. There is no teacher to teach me. Is it possible to score LIE by learning myself ?

      Hi Zuliana

      There are no problem or issues if you want to learn STPM LIE by yourself. All you need is hardwork and dedication because there are a lot of poems and syllabus to cover. However, I do suggest that you would require some assistance or guidance on what to focus on unless you have had Literature background and you know where to start.

    May I ask where to find school in Johor that offers that subject? I wanted to take LIE in my current school as calon persendirian tapi the teachers are giving me bullshits like "nanti awak tak boleh bawak" "awak ambil je seni nanti minat tu datang sendiri" "awak tak takut ke kalau pointer awak drop?" ffs I was one out of 2 people in my school that got A+ for my stpm (english spm tak sama tau dgn stpm) ohmygod i know i am well aware of all these things but the teachers are still being a b about it. So please, respond. Help me

      OH WAIT ATTENTION EVERYONE. I HAVE FOUND A SCHOOL IN JOHOR THAT OFFERS LIE AS THEIR STPM SUBJECT AND IT'S SMK TUN HUSSEIN ONN IN KLUANG. THE ONE AND ONLY SCHOOL IN JOHOR.

      I am glad that you have found a school in your state that offers that subject. If you are confident and passionate about doing LIE, do not let others to dampen your spirit or make you doubt your own ability. It is one of the rare STPM subjects in Malaysia because it is not well valued by own education system and the number of students taking LIE for STPM is decreasing by each year therefore it is understandable that the teachers at your school do not appreciate the importance of literature.

    Hi, I'm in form 6 this year and taking LIE , but i really have no luck in finding the Malaysian Short Stories book . Is anyone interested in selling their used one ? Or suggest a place that is sure to have it ? I'm from the Perak by the way .

    Hi everyone. I am retaking my stpm as a mean to study degree. I am thinking of taking english literature. But I'm having a hard time to find tutor for this subject... Forgive me for asking and i dont mean to pry but is there anyone willing to hold together like a study group or something in klang valley area... And i hope you don't mind studying with an ancient man. XD

      Hi friend, Yup, same opinion as me. Just asking. Past year question is available in MPM online. Here's the step:
      Step 1 Visit MPM website
      Step 2 Move cursor to Sumber & Penerbitan tag
      Step 3 Click Laporan Peperiksaan STPM and download from there
      Step 4 After download, look for English Literature page (may take some time to get right page)

      I'm using the same collection from this website. I hope this link helps. :)

    You are welcome. Me too, 2016 n 2017 Paper they haven't uploaded yet. Don't despair, we can still keep update to see if they (MPM) have new information. Since Exam Day is closer to date, I think maybe we refer to School Teacher. :)

      Hi friend, you can try visit Penang Free School. Lit. English STPM is available here. Provided that, if you are willing to move from Kedah to Penang Island.
